Less than one day after being released by the UFC for failing to sign a video game agreement, welterweight contender Jon Fitch has reached an agreement with the promotion and will return to action at UFC 94 on January 31st against Akihiro Gono, according to MMA Rated.
"We’re going to move ahead and I’ll be back in the UFC. We’re going to sign off on the video game and I’m back."
UFC middleweight Goran Reljic has rescued two men who crashed into the sea in his native Croatia, according to Slobodna Dalmacija.
"A crash that almost killed two young men on the 15th of October at round 3am could have had disastrous consequences when the two young men, both from Privlaka, spun and crashed into the sea. Thankfully both men survived, due to the brave actions of Goran Reljica, the Croatian ultimate fighter, who resides in the immediate vicinity of the town in question."
With just one semi-finals slot remaining, the final lightweight bout is on tap this week as Team Nogueira's John Polakowski faces off against Team Mir’s George Roop to advance in the 155-pound tournament.
Before his bout against the hugging machine Polakowski, Roop injures his hand after catching it in the octagon fencing while training for the fight. The injury is rather seious as Roop is unable to make a fist as a result of the swelling, but by fight day the swelling has subsided and Roop is ready to fight.
Heavyweight up-and-comer Cain Velasquez and established welterweight Josh Koscheck could be the next UFC fighters to be cut by the UFC for refusing to sign a lifetime video game agreement with the promotion.
Jon Fitch and Christian Wellisch were both cut on Wednesday for refusing to sign the contract and, according to Yahoo Sports, the UFC is no longer willing to work with American Kickboxing Academy (AKA) or fighters represented by DeWayne Zinkin and Bob Cook.
Both Velasquez and Koscheck, along with Fitch and Wellisch, train out of AKA and are also poised to decline the agreement and face an immediate termination of their contract. Welterweight Mike Swick, who also trains at AKA, has contacted the UFC and confirmed his intention to continue to fight for the promotion.
Recent welterweight championship challenger Jon Fitch (19-3) was released by the UFC today after refusing to sign away his lifetime video game rights to the promotion, according to MMA Mania.
Heavyweight Christian Wellisch (8-4) was also cut by the UFC after failing to sign the agreement.
