A native of Stockton, Calif., Diaz began his professional fighting career under the tutelage of older brother Nick and mentor Cesar Gracie. A 3-1 record in the WEC was followed by his appearance on 2007's TUF 5. Diaz, who displayed an impressive ground game throughout the season, submitted three opponents before defeating Manny Gamburyan in the series finale.
