These are the quick hit opinions and news reports from around the blogging and media universe:
According to 5oz. of Pain for some reason ESPN’s new show E: 60 will be featuring a spot on Kimbo Slice, famous for his street fighting prowess, and will undoubtedly cover his move in MMA. I can honestly say I am not really interested in seeing it, though it does seem “Kimbo” is taking his venture into MMA seriously. I only worry that detractors of MMA will use him to further push the “Street Thug” idea of all mma fighters. I hope he has success and proves to everyone he really wants to become a complete, real fighter.
MMAWeekly is reporting current TNA and former WWE wrestler is close to signing a deal to fight for the IFL . While I cant argue the “freak show” kind of interest and ticket sales this could generate for the IFL it hurts them in the long run. The first time Angle steps into the ring with a caliber opponent and is crushed by them, the IFL loses all money they invested, and will invest promoting him as the next big thing. This is an athlete who has known back, neck and steroid issues. This is a big risk for the IFL and it might not come with a big reward.
The UFC officially announced Roger Huerta vs Clay Guida as the main event of The Ultimate Fighter Finale December8th. I can truly say I can’t contain my excitement for this one. I previously compared these two in an article here and fully believe Guida will come out on top and win a decision. Huerta has not fought anyone on the level of Guida, and Guida’s competition has been leaps and bounds above Huerta’s. If Huerta is able to pull off the upset here ( surely only an upset to me ) he will garner much more attention from fans eager to see him prove his worth against a higher level of opponent. It appears Luke Thomas of BloodyElbow agrees with me too
MMARingReport published a very good interview with Anderson Silva , I recommend reading it.
