Affliction Banned: Mid Event Thoughts

Date Added: July 20, 2008 02:17:30 AM
Author: Brian Robertson

I dont know if it is just me but the pace of the Affliction event seems excrutiatingly slow. The commentary seems to be lacking and the production value is that of a small local show.

There seems to be a lot of downtime with little talk between the fights and the event isnt flowing as smooth as it could be.

The introductions are low quality and you really do miss the highlights of passed fights to hype the one that is about to start. This is mainly due to being a new promotion and not being able to secure any of the video library of previous fights for the combatants.

These might be small things and maybe I am just being picky but it does seem to be having a large effect on the atmosphere of the night.

So far the fights have been uninspiring and aside from a nice knockout of Terry Martin by "The Phenom"  Vitor Belfort I have been unimpressed with the amount of great fighters putting on average fights.

I will say it is nice to see Jason "The Law" Herzog reffing a fight for a larger promotion. He is a class act and a great guy to talk to before an event. If you are in California for an event say hi to him.
