Former 135 lb. WEC Champion sat down with MMAStation.com for a quick interview before fighting Jason Tabor in the main event of Saturday nights Total Fight Challenge 11

MMAStation.com: What are your thoughts on fighting Jason Tabor in the main event of Total Fight Challenge 11?

Eddie: It’s hard to explain because he’s a friend and we trained together before. In the end it’s just the fact that two top guys have to meet to see who’s the best.

MMAStation.com: Have you ever fought a former training partner or friend before?

Eddie: I’ve never fought a friend like this, but once the cage door closes I’m all business. He’s in for a beatdown for sure.

MMAStation.com: How’s your training been going?

Eddie: I’ve been working hard on getting my cardio up for the fight since its 5 rounds. I’ve been through a 5 round fight before and gone the distance so I think that’s going to play to my advantage the longer the fight goes. I hope to push the pace right away and not make it last all 5 rounds, but if it goes that far I’ll be ready. I’ve been training with Duneland Vale Tudo again to get a feel for fighting a real good wrestler. My style is sprawl and brawl, but training with Miguel Torres has helped my ground game a lot. I feel confident on the ground, but I would like to keep it on the feet and bang for sure.

MMAStation.com: How does it feel to be fighting in the main event so close to home?

Eddie: It’s always great to fight at home. It’s an honor to fight for Joe Goytia and fight in the main event of one of the biggest shows in NW Indiana.

MMAStation.com: What does the future hold for you?

Eddie: I would like to win tomorrow night and then get my WEC belt back. That’s definitely my main goal.

MMAStation.com: Any prediction for your teammate Miguel Torres upcoming WEC title fight against Chase Beebe?

Eddie: Torres has too many weapons and I think he’ll win by triangle choke in Round 2. Chase is a tough guy, but I think Miguel’s ground game will be too much.

MMAStation.com: Anything you’d like to say in closing to your fans on MMAStation.com?

Eddie: Thanks to all my sponsors: East Wind Acupuncture, Classic Bodyworks, Pull-Pin Inc, and Frog Eye Printing and thanks to my fans, family and everyone who supports me through my fighting.

**Photos from Eddie’s fight will be available in the MMAStation gallery shortly.
